Brain mapping

I can hear the groaning now.  Creating a brain map is absurd.  Can’t be done!

Okay, okay.  I agree that we can’t do it now, but what was presented in Existential Thread was a revelation that it became possible by the late 21st century to successfully do it.

Still, there are baby steps being taken now that suggest the idea of creating a map of a person’s brain isn’t entirely crazy.

In his article “Scientists develop AI that can turn brain activity into text” (https://apple.news/AOxt6A5NKT827FVHTsQ551A), Christopher Carbone explains that the algorithms being created to read neural patterns are beginning to be used in controlled studies to read brain activity and convert it into text.

Again, this article in no way proves the concept of brain mapping as represented in the book, but it offers a tantalizing promise of finding our way to that eventual destination.
