Giving thanks

Natalie and I have been blessed this year in so many ways. This spring, we made the decision to begin our adventure to discover what shape the next phase of our life together will take. That journey continues the end of next week as we visit the ABC islands. I’m skeptical about what we’ll find there, but even if we come up empty, I know we’re going to continue to enjoy the process. It has been amazing.

While we were in AZ, I finished the first draft of A Dog’s Tale. I am thankful for all the kind comments and words of encouragement I have received from you. After significant revisions (and I think improvements) to the first chapter I shared with you several weeks ago, the characters took me in directions I never anticipated. Natalie has always been my toughest critic when I write, but her comments are always offered lovingly - sometimes brutally, but always lovingly. I completed my second draft this week. With our schedule over the next several days, I don’t anticipate she will read this version until we head out on 12/7. Fingers crossed, I am hoping to be ready to shop the story to an agent by mid-December. Yay!

We are thankful for the support of our family as we have tried to figure out what makes most sense for us going forward, and we are especially grateful for Megan’s and Brad’s invitation to share their home with their family when we are in town. Their hospitality has made our journey infinitely easier than it would have otherwise been.

And, we want to thank each of you for your love. Please know we are deeply thankful for each of you.

Happy Thanksgiving!
